Although each of these laser devices uses a laser they have very different types and power.

. The Facts About Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)

Proven Technology

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) has become one of the greatest innovations in hair restoration technology.

Low Level Lasers are referred to as "cold" lasers because they do not release energy in the form of heat. The light wavelength emitted from a low level laser actually will repair tissues that have impaired cellular metabolism by stimulating blood circulation, encouraging regeneration of normal healthy tissues.

During the 1960's and 1970's, researchers used low level lasers to evaluate their potential biostimulating effects on living tissues. As a surprise finding during experiments on patients with leg ulcers, doctors observed that the hair follicles surrounding the area being treated by the low level laser began to grow new hair.

Laser light stimulates microcirculation, decrease inflammation, improve cellular metabolism and protein synthesis. Furthermore, recent European studies suggest that LLLT increases blood and lymph circulation at the hair roots and stimulates follicular cells, which may cause hair to grow in thicker and stronger.

More studies, evaluating the effectiveness of LLLT in the treatment of hair loss, are continuing to prove the effectiveness of LLLT in hair restoration.

How LLLT works

Photobiostimulation is the application of light energy in the therapeutic treatment of cell and tissue regeneration. Low level laser therapy (LLLT) is light energy emitted from a laser diode to harmlessly penetrate skin tissue in order to invigorate the desired target area. Research has shown that low level laser therapy is the most effective non-invasive treatment for hair restoration.

LLLT has been proven to be effective in stimulation of the hair bulbs which rests at a 5-6mm depth just below the scalp. Research has also shown that laser therapy stimulates and increases scalp blood circulation-consequently supplying more oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles. This in turn enhances skin tissue repair and helps to promote hair restoration.

. Other Benefits Of Laser Therapy

Reduces excess levels of scalp dihydrotestorone (DHT) by aiding in the normalization of scalp sebum production.

Reduces inflammatory lymphocytic infiltrate around the hair follicle-a possible cause of alopecia areata.

The significant anti-inflammatory effect of laser therapy make it an excellent treatment for psoriasis, eczema, seborrhoeic dermatitis, neurodermatitis and most other autoimmune conditions effecting the hair and scalp.

Laser therapy's proven effectiveness in improving tissue microcirculation and re-vascularisation make it an ideal therapy for pre and post-operative hair transplantation and skin grafting procedures. Laser Therapy reduces post-operative swelling and burning significantly, and enhances the body's natural anti-inflammatory responses to help alleviate the pain, itching and swelling associated with acute viral illnesses such as chicken pox (varicella), where the blisters are predominantly located on the scalp or face.
